MV CEO Returns to Temple University as Judge for Changemakers Pitch Competition


Millennial Ventures CEO, Dr. Brandi Baldwin, returned to her alma mater, Temple University, after an invitation to judge in the recently concluded 5th Annual Changemaker Challenge.


Innovation & Entrepreneurship Institute hosted the 5th Annual Temple University Social Impact Summit and Changemaker Challenge Pitch Competition last February 24th.


The Changemaker Challenge is a competition for ideas and ventures in the social impact space with an aim of creating positive change in the world. The Challenge was open to all Temple University students, alumni, faculty and staff.


Dr. Brandi, along with the other guest judges: Ellen Weber of Robin Hood Ventures, Brendan Conlin of Congreso de Latinos Unidos and Seulky McInneshin of The Enterprise Center, lent their expertise and achievements in social entrepreneurship and applied it to the decision-making process to help determine the winners from the finalists.


The Grand Prize for the 5th Annual Changemaker Challenge was won by Clean Bee by Nang Kant Kaw Ywat Hseng, Fox '22. The independent social enterprise aims to reduce poverty and improve conditions by providing vulnerable communities in Shan State, Myanmar alternative sources of income through local beekeeping and sources honey and beeswax from those communities to support alternative livelihood. For the Undergraduate Track, 1st Place Winner was Liquid Limbs by James Calcagni, Engineering '22 and 2nd Place Winner was Growcery by Audrey Lee, Tyler '22. For the Upper Track, 1st Place Winner was SVE (Street Vendors Empowerment) by Fatimetou Khlil, Fox '23 and 2nd Place Winner was Panacea by Heli Majeethia, MED '25.


Global Innovation award went to SVE (Street Vendors Empowerment) with the initiative to provide Smart-Tent powered by solar power designed for small businesses that can easily transform into a suitcase.


Crowd Favorite award went to Live More by Robert Long, Fox '23 with an initiative that fuses wearable technology with mutual aid.
